Short Story Intensive
Love writing short fiction but know your stories need work?
Want other people to read your stories, but struggle to get published?
Whether you need help with character development, dialogue, pacing, point of view (POV), or conflict, the Short Story Intensive will help you improve your fiction writing abilities and take you one step closer to publication. Working together over a five-week period, we will revise and edit ONE short story together.
How It Works:
I review your short story and provide feedback on what’s working, what isn’t, and where I think we should focus our time and efforts.
Each week, I assign a piece of “homework” aimed at improving your writing skills and the story itself. By the end of our time together, you will have a much-improved short story that will be ready for submission to literary journals, contests, or grant applications.
$500 for five weeks of professional, one-on-one feedback, guidance, and mentorship.
This one-on-one program is for you if:
You have a draft of a short story but aren’t completely happy with it.
You’ve sent a short story out to literary journals or contests but haven’t received a YES yet.
You have identified that you need help with a certain aspect of your craft.
You are able to clear time over a 5-week period and are prepared to work quickly and efficiently.
You understand the importance of professional help but are on a budget.
Write poetry or memoir? This program is adaptable!
“Over the course of the sessions Renée guided me through revisions and rewrites in a steady, knowledgeable, and empathetic way. Not only is this story much improved, but I’ve also acquired skills in character and narrative development which I will be able to use when I write and revise other stories.”—Elizabeth Collis, Writer, Halifax, Nova Scotia
